      Itinerary

Upon your arrival in Kathmandu, our representative will be there to welcome you at Tribhuvan International Airport. Our staff members will be holding a nameplate with your name outside the arrival area. They will assist you and transfer you to a comfortable 3-star hotel (bed & breakfast). Check in to the hotel and we will have the first group meeting with your guide in the hotel.
The second day will be filled with a half-day guided walking tour in Kathmandu. The main attractions for the day are Swayambhunath and Kathmandu Durbar Square. We'll arrange transportation and provide an experienced city cultural guide to accompany the group, providing informative commentary. The tour starts after breakfast, beginning with Swayambhunath, also known as the Monkey Temple. It's the oldest stupa in the world, and from the top, you can enjoy a fantastic view of the Kathmandu Valley. The guide will share insights into its rich history and cultural significance. After Swayambhunath, we'll proceed to Kathmandu Durbar Square, where you'll encounter the old palace and numerous temples, each telling a unique story.
Today we will take a flight from Kathmandu Domestic Airport to Tumlingtar. This will be a 40-minute flight with a spectacular view of the mountains. After arriving at Tumlingtar Airport, we will then head to Num. This will be a 4-hour road trip that will take us through the settlements in the area. We will then spend the night at Num.
After resting the night at Num, we will then begin a long hike towards Seduwa. The path involves a steep descent but also will require us to ascend to get to Seduwa. Through the way, we will pass many bustling village activities in the area as well as many cardamom fields that are grown in the settlement. During the way, we will also have to go the Makalu Braun National Park checkpoint that will check our permits. It may take 5 to 6 hours to reach Seduwa where we will rest for the day.
Unlike the day before with the difficult pathway to Seduwa, the trek to Tashigaon will be a relatively easier one where we will pass through bamboo forests and rhododendron covered trees. Tashigaon is known for being a Sherpa settlement where we will pass through many prayer flags and rock stupas. We will then spend the night at Tashigaon and get ready for the day ahead.
The break we had at Tashigaon will be helpful for us when we climb steeply towards Khongma Danda on the 6th day of our trip. We'll keep going through those beautiful rhododendron forests, just like we did before. Khongma Danda is famous for its lodges, and we will stay there for the night after hiking for about 5 to 6 hours.
We will spend the day acclimatizing at Khongma Danda before we head further towards the base camp. We are having some beautiful day hike around.
Today will be the most challenging part of our trip where we will have the opportunity to trek through 4 different passes to get to Dobate. This includes the Khongma La pass which we will cross initially. However, despite the difficulty, we will also have the chance to get a spectacular view of the mountains along the way including a view of Mount Makalu. We will then head to the Shipton La pass after the Khongma La pass. This will feature a famous lake called the Kalo Pokhari Lake. The place is decorated with prayer flags as it serves as a pilgrimage place for many Hindus. Finally, we will reach Dobate and take a rest for the night. It may take 7-8 hours for us to get to Dobate so prepare yourselves for the challenging hike.
After spending the night at Dobate, we will be trekking to Yangri Kharka through Yak fields, rhododendron covered forests, and bamboo forests. It will take us around 6 hours to get there.
We will then proceed to Langmale Kharka just like the day before through yak farms and rhododendron covered forests. We will also go through amazing views of snow-capped mountains, waterfalls and pilgrimage sites. It will take us around 5-6 hours to get there.
The next day, we will head to Makalu Base Camp, the main destination of our trip. Just like before, it will take us another 5-6 hours to reach there. Through the pathway, you will arrive at a place called Shershong which is a flatland and will lead you to Makalu Base Camp. At the base camp, you will be able to clearly see Makalu for its tall structure so make sure to take in the sights while you are there.
After arriving at Makalu Base Camp, the following day will be spent exploring what Makalu Base Camp has to offer. We will be exploring the camp and taking in the sights of Mount Makalu.
After spending some time at the Base camp, we will then make our descent and will first head to Yangri Kharka where we will use the same path as before. On this day, we will be walking a lot more than usual where we will walk 7 to 8 hours while descending from the base camp.
We will then head to Dobate after resting at Yangri Kharka. We will be descending and walking at a faster rate. As you walk, you will realize that the elevation will gradually decrease making it easier for you to breathe while walking along the way. We will continue walking through fields of Yak farms, bamboo forests and rhododendron covered forests eventually arriving at Dobate where we will spend the following night.
After the night at Danda Kharka, we will now descend across the earlier 4 passes where we will once again pass through the pilgrimage sites, sites of Buddhist praying flags where after walking 6 to 7 hours, we will eventually arrive at Danda Kharka.
We will be leaving the mountains behind us and will move towards a warmer place in Seduwa which will take us 7 to 8 hours to reach there. We will continue passing through all the sights we went through before and will continue our descent.
The next day will be somewhat long as we will trek from Seduwa to Num where we will drive from Num to Tumlingtar with its domestic airport. The whole journey may take 5 to 6 hours where at Tumlingtar, it will generally become warmer.
In the morning, we will be taking a 40-minute flight from Tumlingtar to Kathmandu. The weather in Tumlingtar is generally good so we will not have issues with the weather.
Check out time from the hotel at 12 noon. We will arrange your international airport transportation during your departure time. You must be at the airport 3 hours prior to your flight time at Kathmandu International airport.
