Today, we will start our drive early in the morning from Kathmandu to Dharapani which will be the starting point of our Tilicho Lake Trek. This will include an 8-to-9-hour drive which will take us through many small villages and towns of the Annapurna region where we will drive alongside the famous Marsyangdi River which is also known as the raging river in Nepali and boasts an impressive length of 150 km. After we arrive in Dharapani, we will then be required to show our ids at the police checkpoint.
The first day of trek starts with a hiking to Chame which is a Tibetan settlement in the area. On the pathway, we will cross through many Buddhist sculptures called manis which are Buddhist carvings on stone walls and many farms with big pine forests. It will take us 5 to 6 hours to reach Chame.
After spending the night at Chame, we will then trek towards Upper Pisang which includes walking through various suspension bridges and rhododendron forests. We will continue to pass through many Tibetan settlements where Manang is famous for being one of the largest Tibetan settlements in Nepal. We will cross several suspension bridges and get more stunning views of the Annapurna Mountain ranges. On the way, we will have the chance to explore the famous Braga Monastery, which is the largest monastery in Manang, and we are hoping that the visit will help you learn more about Buddhism and its culture. We will spend the following day acclimatizing at Manang where we will rest for the day ahead resting our bodies before attempting to climb higher. During this day, you can also visit the Gangapurna Lake that is located a little farther.
After spending 2 days at Manang, we will then trek to Siri Kharka along the Marsyangdi River which will be a short trek comprising of 3 to 4 hours.
